The launch of the signature-raising campaign for Dan Barna‘s presidential candidacy that should have taken place on Saturday has been delayed over alleged tensions between the two parties in the Alliance 2020, USR and PLUS.
Sources quoted by the mainstream media said that PLUS would have wanted the USR political committee to approve both the electoral and the political alliances previously agreed by the negotiation teams. USR has Okayed the electoral alliance between USR and PLUS by a large majority, but the political alliance was approved by a split vote. However, the agreement was revised by almost 20 amendments.
The sources revealed that a great part in USR does not want a political alliance with PLUS, as Barna party’s claims PLUS is poorly organised and has “exaggerated claims” on sharing the seats on the lists.
On the other camp, Dacian Ciolos and other PLUS leaders are discontent with the results of the negotiations with USR. Ciolos told G4Media.ro that “they cannot just have an electoral alliance and some bargaining chips on certain positions”.
“We need an inseparable political alliance, not only half-measures. We need only one team, not political petty calculations and one-minute rapid snapshots”, said in his turn Vlad Voiculescu, PLUS’ candidate for the Bucharest City Hall.
The two alliance leaders, Dan Barna and Dacian Ciolos have both posted on Facebook about the importance on a long-term alliance, yet the event marking the start of Barna’s presidential campaign has been postponed till all terms of the alliance are sealed.
