Environment Minister, Gratiela Gavrilescu, said on Tuesday that the draft for a new pollution tax will be completed by the end of this year, although initially the ministry should have presented it by mid-year, hotnews.ro reports.
“I do not want to make the same mistake again. I want the calculation formula currently under analysis to be a formula that can no longer be disputed or challenged. The polluter must be the one to pay a penalty. I’ve promised that by the end of this year the working group will present a final version,” Minister Gavrilescu said.
The car tax was waived in 2016, and since then the representatives of the Ministry of Environment have promised on several occasions that another environmental stamp will be implemented. Earlier this year, the Environment Minister said a final charge would be ready by June.
