The President of Hungary, on a new private visit to Romania

The President of Hungary, Katalin Novak, is on vacation with her family in Transylvania. After making official visits to Transcarpathia, to Kyiv, to the Vatican and to Rome, Novak posted on his Facebook page photos from a family trip to Transylvania, Kronika reports.

“Family trip to Gheorghieni. A view from Suhardul Mic”, Katalin Novak wrote on Facebook, with a message accompanied by a photo with Lacul Rosu/ The Red Lake in the background.

Katalin Novak arrived in Transylvania on Sunday, the same day she wrote on social networks that she attended the service in Feliceni commune, Harghita county, which marked the beginning of her family’s vacation.

The President of Hungary was also in Romania in May, on a private visit. Then he participated in the Catholic Pentecost pilgrimage from Şumuleu Ciuc. At the time, the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) reacted after Novak posted a video on Facebook with the anthem of the Szeklerland. The description of the material included a line from the song referring to Transylvania: “Don’t let Transylvania perish, Lord.”

Such statements do not correspond to the desired promotion of a pragmatic, good-neighborly and collaborative relationship between the two countries,” the MAE said.

Also, in April, Katalin Novak was present at Carei, at the unveiling of the bust of the Hungarian poet Kolcsey Ferenc. Novak was met by protesters, and according to the images filmed by the local press, she went to the protective fence mounted by the gendarmes, behind whom were those who were booing her, the gesture can be considered provocative.
