Two opposition parties challenge the fiscal measures at the Constitutional Court

The spokesperson of the USR, Ionuţ Moşteanu, announced on Friday that the USR and Forța Dreptei submitted to the Constitutional Court a referral regarding the package of laws that the Ciolacu Government committed to the Parliament. The notification was also signed by two PNL MPs, stated Ionuț Moșteanu.

“We submitted to the general secretariat the notification of USR, Forța Dreptei and PNL against the law by which Ciucă and Ciolacu put their hand deep into the pockets of working Romanians. Two liberals also signed, Vîlceanu and Pecingină. There are 46 pages of unconstitutionality articles. There are 13 articles of the Constitution trampled by Ciolacu (…) Until the CCR judges decide on it, this project is blocked, there will be no tax increase”, declared Ionuț Moşteanu on Friday, at the Palace of the Parliament. Ionuț Moșteanu also said that the notification sent to the CCR contains both procedural and constitutional arguments.

The principle of equality before the law is violated through unequal treatment and discrimination. It is a notification from 2020 to the CCR, made by the PSD on a package of fiscal-budgetary measures, then the Orban Government assumed responsibility, a Government that did not have a majority in Parliament, and that is a case in which the Constitution says that you must undertake responsibility, not when you have over 60% in Parliament, as PSD, PNL have with the support of the minorities. They have no argument for assuming responsibility on such a complex project, they had to come with it to the Parliament and the CCR then said exactly that“, said the spokesperson of the USR,
