Update: Jordan’s king cancels visit to Romania following PM Dancila’s pledge on relocating embassy to Jerusalem

King Abdullah II of Jordan has cancelled his three-day visit to Romania after PM Viorica Dancila’s announcement on relocating Romania’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, arabnews.com reported.

The Jordanian King’s visit should start on Monday.

His Majesty King Abdullah II cancels a visit to Romania that had been scheduled to start Monday, in solidarity with Jerusalem,” Jordan’s foreign ministry said on Monday.

King Abdullah II was supposed to meet President Klaus Iohannis and the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat. Moreover, the visit should have occasioned the conclusion of several agreements between Romania and Jordan.

The Romanian Presidential Administration confirmed the cancellation of the visit.

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis was to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan to the Cotroceni Palace this afternoon, on the occasion of the official visit scheduled to take place in Romania. The visit has been cancelled today by the Jordanian side“, reads a Presidency’s press release.
