Social-democrat leader Liviu Dragnea said on Sunday, during a TV show, that if the Social Democrats win the elections the USL slogan will be carried out, i.e. ‘justice to the very end’ and those he holds responsible for the mistakes of the past year will have to ‘pay’ in court, pointing at Klaus Iohannis, Dacian Cioloş and his ministers, realitatea.net reports.
“The investigations about houses, for example, must be completed; he likes to talk about justice. Justice is for all. Prime Minister Ciolos must pay along with Minister of Culture and other officials and civil servants involved in the great fraud with the ‘Wisdom of the Earth’ sculpture. The law was infringed from the very beginning and is violated even now. The Health Minister must pay for the huge damage to the patients, to the patients with hepatitis C and to millions of sick Romanians, as he did not want to cut the prices of drugs,” the PSD leader said.
He also nominated the Minister of European Funds, due to whom “Romania has lost billions this year,” and the Minister of Agriculture, “who has delayed subsidies to agriculture by eight months.”
“All these people – and others whom I will not nominate tonight – will have to pay and will he held responsible,” Liviu Dragnea said.
PM Ciolos: You tend to seed fear and doubt in people’s hearts
In reply to Liviu Dragnea’s statements, PM Dacian Ciolos has posted on his Facebook page a reply: “I notice you tend to seed fear and doubt in people’s hearts, so that you then cling on them in the electoral battle. I abstain from commenting your statements about ‘justice to the very end’. I assure you that this government supports justice in doing its duty so that the intimidation attempts do not surface during an electoral campaign. I believe it is time that, instead of fear and hatred, the leaders of this country seed confidence and optimism that the things can be done differently: without lies, without populism, without corruption. Try dear believe in them too, Mr. Dragnea.”
PSD’s Dragnea retorts
Liviu Dragnea stated on Monday evening that he didn’t expect Dacian Ciolos to post “some ironies” on Facebook, regarding such an important topic as it is the manner in which the electoral process will be carried out.
Dragnea reconfirmed that he has concerns, just like “the majority of politicians whom he spoke with”, regarding the fact that the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) is an institution that has no chief — an essential institution in the electoral process, just like it is the Interior Ministry (MAI).
“What I have requested officially, for all the parties, consisted of making available for us the computer applications that will be used for counting the ballot papers and for assigning the mandates. Moreover, I asked for us to be allowed to have people, each party a specialist, who will assist in all this operations. Furthermore, I have expressed my doubts regarding the correctness of the MAI, the Government respectively. (…) Since Toba was appointed as Interior Minister in this governance, in two months they targeted him so they will be able to replace him, and this is something that Prime Minister Ciolos wanted, he didn’t even try to hide it. In the end he left with the plagiarism, non-plagiarism, criminally prosecuted or not. I expected the Prime Minister of Romania not to post some ironies on Facebook on such an important matter. This shows how this man treats the vote on 11 December,” Dragnea stated on the B1 TV private television station.
He stated that he didn’t want to engage a dialogue with the Prime Minister on social networks.
PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea claimed on Sunday evening that there are election rigging suspicions in respect to the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Save Romania Union (USR), and added that there are young people hired in the Government, who were initially volunteers and who are “posting for Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.”
