Prime Minister, Viorica Dancila, has denied on Thursday a Government reshuffling, as the assessment of ministers’ performances hadn’t been carried out.
“The information regarding Government reshuffling is totally unfounded. I assure you no discussion on Government reshuffling has taken place and, as mentioned by the two chairmen of the ruling coalition Liviu Dragnea and Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the assessment of ministers’ performance will be conducted by the ruling coalition. No such assessment has been made, so there’s no talk about reshuffling, I deny such information,” Premier Dancila said, antena3.ro informs.
In February, PSD Chairman, Liviu Dragnea, denied reshuffling is ahead. “This is nonsense. There’s no such thing, not in the party, in the Government, in the coalition.”
Sources quoted by the Antena 3 TV private broadcaster said on Wednesday there are huge dissatisfactions about the work of the four ministers, and allegedly they are due to be replaced by mid-next month. The targeted ministers reportedly are Minister of Economy Danut Andrusca, Energy Minister Anton Anton, Minister of Health Sorina Pintea and Transport Minister Lucian Sova.
“If we are to mention names, there will be heated talks, and that’s because when this new executive has reached Victoria Palace, some of the cabinet members were appointed due to the influence of some local barons. So, they will have to agree that their people have to go home and they will be hard to be convinced,” the private television informed on Wednesday.
The Parliament plenum voted on January 29 in favour of the PSD-ALDE cabinet, led by Viorica Dancila, by 282 votes ‘for’, 136 ‘against’ and one abstention. The cabinet was sworn in at Cotroceni Palace, in the presence of President Klaus Iohannis.
In her speech before the ballot, PM-designate Viorica Dancila said she would not introduce any new tax.
“The Government has passed by a large majority, which is an occasion of joy for me, but also a responsibility for all those who voiced their trust in this Government and in a woman premier,” Dancila said after the vote.
Dancila Gov’t needed 233 votes in the plenary session to pass, and the PSD-ALDE coalition had 243 MPs, which was not supposed to pose a validation problem.
