Update: PM Viorica Dăncilă’s decision to dismiss Remus Borza– official

The decision to dismiss Remus Borza from the position of honorary adviser on economic issues, reform and taxation of Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă was published in the Official Gazette on Monday.

Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă announced on Saturday she would dismiss economic advisor Remus Borza, following his statements on the cut in the number of state employees and number of ministries, government sources said.

On Saturday, in a telephone interview for a TV station, Borza advanced the idea of a new ordinance to amend the famous GEO 114/2018 and GEO 19/2019.

“We have increased the revenues in the public sector, I think we are the only country in the world to pay much better the public sector employees than the private sector. We have to manage 800,000 state employees. In the Government too we have to cut the staff of the ministries. It’s more efficient, we’ll have money to build a factory in Romania,” Borza said for Antena 3 TV private broadcaster.

Remus Borza was named honorary adviser of PM Dancila economic issues last Thursday.

Last Friday he said that PSD needs a new set of communicators and cannot reinvent itself with characters such as Rodica Nassar, Octav Cozmânca, Mircea Geoana and Adrian Năstase. Remus Borza also denounced some names of Social Democrats with whom the PSD should come forward.

Remus Borza reacted after Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă announced on Saturday that she will dismiss him.

“It is the sovereign right of the prime minister: whoever has appointed me can also dismiss me. There is no tragedy, if that’s the way. It was only the Dăncilă Government and implicitly the PSD that they had a historic chance to become credible, to assume and correct some things or economic realities. Of course, they haven’t, probably for political reasons, but this denial and lack of commitment will cost PSD, but it will cost the country first,” Remus Borza said.
