Republic of Moldova President Igor Dodon says he had a phone conversation with President Klaus Iohannis, to review the bilateral agenda, noticing the need to deepen it, the Moldovan head of state announces on Facebook in Wednesday.
The Romanian Presidency confirms the dialogue in a release.
“Romanian President Mr. Klaus Iohannis has had on June 26 phone conversations with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Mrs. Maia Sandu, with Vice-Premier Mr. Andrei Nastase and with the President of R. of Moldova Mr. Igor Dodon,” the release reads.
The communique also informs that, during the conversation with President Igor Dodon, President Klaus Iohannis stressed “the importance for R. of Moldova to maintain the European path, to implement the Association Agreement and the Comprehensive and Thorough Agreement of Free Trade and the reforms needed, to maintain the Moldovan position on the Transdnestrian file (…) and to consolidate the joint language, culture and history community that lays at the basis of the relations between Romania and R. of Moldova.”
In turn, Moldovan President Igor Dodon expressed gratitude for the support Romania has granted in various fields of interest and has reiterated the will to support the Strategic Bilateral Partnership.
Dodon also mentions the intensification of bilateral contacts and that Romania is R. of Moldova’s main trade partner.
The Moldovan President wrote that at the end he has invited President Iohannis to pay an official visit to Chisinau.
Phone talks with PM Maia Sandu Vice-PM Andrei Nastase
Romanian Presidency mentions that, during the phone conversations with Prime Minister Maia Sandu and Vice-Premier Andrei Nastase, the President of Romania has wished them luck in carrying out their terms of great responsibility for the future of Moldovan citizens.
From Chisinau, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced she has been invited by President Klaus Iohannis to pay an official visit to Bucharest, digi24.ro reports.
“Today, I’ve had a phone conversation with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. I thanked President Iohannis for the constant support granted by Romania to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We have discussed about the need to advance in implementing the common projects of Romania and R. of Moldova. President Iohannis assured us of his support and Romania’s support in the process of European integration,” Maia Sandu said.
“I thank President Iohannis for the invitation to pay an official visit to Bucharest on July 2. After the visit to Bucharest, I will pay an official visit to Brussels, on July 4,” the Moldovan Premier said.
Romanian Presidency informs also that Vice-Premier Andrei Nastase is to pay a visit to Bucharest, at the beginning of July.
