US President Trump calls off bilateral meetings in Brussels, including the one with Klaus Iohannis

US President Donald Trump has cancelled all his bilateral meetings he would have in Brussels on the sidelines of NATO Summit on Thursday, including with Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis, official sources told local media.

Klaus Iohannis and Donald Trump should have had a bilateral meeting Thursday at 8 a.m., on the side-lines of a NATO summit.

President Klaus Iohannis arrived in Brussels on Wednesday to attend a NATO summit.

The two presidents would have most probably talked about the situation on NATO’s Eastern flank, as this issue is among the US President’s concerns, and also about strengthening NATO’s presence in the Black Sea region.

The reason for which Trump would have called off all his bilateral meetings would be related to the fact that Germany had suddenly interrupted consultations with Georgia and Ukraine, on the issue of the security in the Black Sea region, while insisting that debates on the budget topic should be concluded first, as Digi24 reported.

Other sources quoted by Mediafax, Donald Trump cancelled the meetings because he would have had to leave the NATO summit in order to attend these bilateral talks and amid contradictory discussions within the reunion, he had to leave in the conference room.

A new meeting of the NATO members is ongoing.
