USR and Romania Together Movement want the amendment of electoral law

The leaders of Save Romania Union (USR) and Romania Together Movement, Dan Barna (photo 2)and Dacian Ciolos (photo 1), support together the amendment of the electoral law, pleading for ‘new people in politics’ and inviting everyone eager to join their campaign to sign for it.

Former Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, leader of the Romania Together Movement, said “we want to have better political representativeness, through the proposed amendments, one of them being to have two rounds of election of mayors, so we avoid situations when the mayors have been elected by 15-20% of the citizens.”

In turn, USR leader Dan Barna said that is hard to vote in Romania. “In Romania is very hard to take part, as citizen, to the political life. As long as we do not solve these issues, we have no chance to replace the current puppet or evil leaders with honest citizens, who really want to have their contribution.”

Another objective of the campaign, as Mihai Politeanu, leader of a civil initiative, put it, is to decrease the number of signatures needed to run for elections and to eliminate the electoral thresholds for local and European elections.
