USR-PLUS Alliance staged first electoral rally in Cluj, slammed ruling PSD

Leaders of the USR-PLUS Alliance 2020 have criticised the Social Democrat Party on Sunday during their first electoral rally for the upcoming elections, held in Unirii Square in Cluj Napoca. According to the organisers, over 4,000 attended the meeting.

USR chairman Dan Barna has stated that Romanians had been promised hospitals and motorways with no pledge being honoured. He argued that Cluj can be set as an example of success in Romania.

We are tired of the theft in the Romanian politics, of lies, incompetence and pledges that are never achieved. We were promised highways, they did nothing, there is no highway to link Cluj to Bucharest or Iasi, to link Romania’s regions. We were promised schools and we see our youngsters leaving the country. What did they do instead? They gassed us on August 10 and they adopted the criminal codes in Parliament to help Dragnea get away from jail. Romania is losing EUR 38 billion every year, this is the price of corruption,” said Barna.

In his turn, PLUS chairman, former PM Dacian Ciolos, pointed out that the Romanians’ vote do matter on May 26, as they must get rid of „theft, stupidity and poverty”.

For too long your vote has been commercial, for a bottle of oil or an extra RON 100 at the salary or pension and others decided on our behalf for four years. To start building something we must get rid of theft, stupidity and poverty (…) How can we accept to place theft at the helm of the state and to interpret theft as a virtue? (…) People are working to get out of poverty, while PSD state is spending money, but we see no results. They threw us in the mud through their manner of ruling. We are still in poverty for the money managed by PSD are going on bribes and sinecures, not on development. Romania is poorly governed,” Ciolos underlined.
