What is the anti-corruption head’s wealth?

Romanian anti-corruption chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi released her wealth statement. She has an apartment, a credit and EUR 12,000 in bank accounts.

Kovesi has a two-room flat bought in 2007 through mortgage and bank accounts totaling around EUR 12,000, according to her latest wealth statement issued this week. EUR 8,500 and another RON 15,500 are deposited in her bank accounts.

She also got a bank loan worth EUR 45,000 made in 2008, which is due to expire in 2033.

The National Anti-corruption Directorate head declared salary incomes of almost RON 160,000. She also earned EUR 4,000 as expert in several European programmes: EU Grant-Albania, TAIEX-Montenegro, TAIEX-Moldova.

According to the wealth statement, Kovesi has no plots of land, jewelry or art objects whose value exceeds EUR 5,000, nor other moveable or immovable assets, and investments. She didn’t lend money to anyone.

Codruta Kovesi has been at the DNA’s helm since May 2013. She has been running the General Prosecutor’s Office for six years and she was also High Representative of the Justice Ministry for the relation with the European Commission.
