Who stands the best chances to win the Bucharest Mayor seat?

Two days before the local elections on June 5, an IRES survey released on Friday upon the Digi 24 request shows which candidates stand the best chances to win the Mayor of Bucharest seat.

The opinion poll informs that social-democrat candidate Gabriela Firea would be voted by 45% of the Bucharesters, followed by Nicusor Dan (Save Bucharest Union) – 25%, PMP’s Robert Turcescu – 11% and Catalin Predoiu, PNL – 10%.

The opinion poll also reveals that:

  • 61% of the interviewees say things are going in the wrong direction
  • Main problems in Bucharest are related to traffic, garbage collection, state of roads, the lack of enough parking lots, corruption in local administration.
  • 62% say they would vote, 10% would not vote.
  • For the local council the votes of those who intend to cast their ballots would go to: PSD-UNPR – 38%, PNL – 23%, USB -15%, PMP – 11%, ALDE – 7%, PRU – 2%, PNTCD – 1%, UDMR – 1%.

The IRES opinion poll was conducted by phone for Digi 24 during May 20-June 1, 2016 on a representative sample of 6,628 individuals in Bucharest. The margin of error is of 1.4%.

What about Cluj and Brasov?

In Cluj Napoca PNL’s Emic Boc stands the best chance to be re-elected as mayor – 42%, followed by Independent Octavian Buzoianu – 17%, Liviu Alexa (Liberal Movement Party) – 7%. For the local council preferences aim to: PNL – 30%, PSD-ALDE – 12%, UDMR – 5%.

In Brasov first stands independent George Scripcaru – 74%, followed by Razvan Popa, PSD – 7% and independent Mihai Sturzu – 5%. By parties for the local council: PNL – 27%, PSD – 25%, independents – 21%, ALDE – 7%.
