The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) specifies that on Friday, 12 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, were transported to Romania aboard a flight operated by the National Company TAROM.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) specifies that on Friday, November 24, 2023, following the complex efforts of the Interinstitutional Crisis Cell, through the Embassy of Romania in Cairo and the Representation Office of Romania in Ramallah, 12 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, were transported to Romania aboard a flight operated by the National Company TAROM,” the institution states.
On November 22, the 12 Romanian citizens and family members arrived on the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah border crossing, subsequently being taken over by representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Egypt.
A mobile team from the MAE Crisis Cell then accompanied them to Cairo, from where they were boarded for Romania. MAE continues the dialogue with Israeli and Egyptian authorities to facilitate the evacuation of other Romanian citizens and their family members in the Gaza Strip who have requested support in this regard, depending on developments in the field and the agreement of the parties involved.
So far, 249 Romanian citizens and their family members have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
