21 civic organisations urge the Government on Wednesday to give up the emergency ordinance amending the Criminal Codes and announce they are ready for street protests.
The call comes as the Government is holding a sitting Wednesday afternoon, with the sources saying it might adopt the Criminal Codes by emergency ordinances, ziare.com reports.
“There is no reasonable ground to justify the emergency in putting the codes in agreement with the Constitutional Court decisions, they can follow the normal procedure in Parliament,” a release from the organisations reads.
They point to the interests of some people in the leadership of the current parliamentary majority, persons with final sentences or indicted.
The release also reads that the Government, although led by a person close to PSD leader, with criminal files, is not the attorney of those sentenced, whereas the Government is on public service.
The organisations also urge Justice Minister Tudorel Toader to put an end “right now” to the attempts to amend the Criminal Codes. They warn that if the plans are not abandoned, they will take to the street and demand to the very end the resignation of Mrs. Prime Minister Viorica Dancila.
