A game invented by a Romanian settled in U.S. is optional subject in a school in Bucharest and in several kindergartens across the country. X-COLONY has been already presented in international fairs where it got wide recognition as a unique game on the market. The game is like a 3D puzzle and was invented by Sorin Alexe, former university professor from Galati, who is now established in USA.
Children can create 3D objects from paperboard and transparent adhesive tape.
“Three years ago, I bought some origami books. And I was little bit dissatisfied that the origami was restricting me from using cuts and splices. I proposed to myself to look things from a child’s perspective, if I want to play why should anyone restrict me from doing something?,” the inventor told Digi 24.
The game is used as an optional subject in a state school in Bucharest and is used as experiment at several private kindergartens. Teachers and psychologists say the game is facilitating children’s growth, enabling the development of their spatial intelligence.
