Alina Bica (photo 1), former head of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has been sentenced on Tuesday to four years imprisonment whereas Adriean Videanu (photo 2) has been acquitted, digi24.ro informs.
The decision of the three judges of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) is not final, can be appealed to the ICCJ panel of five judges.
Bica has been sentenced for the offense of favouring the perpetrator, being acquitted for the offense of abuse of office, the same source informs.
The ICCJ has concluded on November 23 the debates on the corruption file of the former DIICOT head Alina Bica, as the prosecution and defence have presented the final pleas.
The prosecution demanded high sentences in prison for the two defenders, whereas the defence claimed the evidence do not prove the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) charges and asked for acquittal.
In the file known as ‘Bica 2’ the former DIICOT head is charged with favouring the former Economy Minister Adriean Videanu in the Romgaz-Interagro file, as well as businessman Ovidiu Tender in the Rafo-Carom file.
