The National Integrity Agency (ANI) has noticed possible clues of committing the crime of conflict of interest by George Falcă, mayor of Arad city (western Romania), and has notified the Prosecutor General’s Office for investigations.
“In exercising his duties, Gheorghe Falcă signed and approved 31 certificates of urban planning, four building permits, two notifications of opportunity, two authorizations for dissolution and an explanatory memorandum for 27 beneficiaries whose projects have been completed by the same company – Pro Architectura Arad SRL, a company in which the person under evaluation and his wife are partners. Also, the wife of the evaluated person holds the position of manager with the company Pro Architectura Arad SRL,” a release from ANI reads, quoted by realitatea.net.
According to the source, the 40 pieces of documents were signed and approved by Gheorghe Falcă, as mayor, during his mandates of 2008-2012 and of 2012-2016 respectively.
“During the evaluated period, SC Pro Architectura Arad SRL distributed dividends in the amount of RON 403,000. The procedure for signing and approval of the above-mentioned documents generated indirectly a material benefit both for George Falca and for his wife,” the communiqué reads.
ANI has notified the Prosecutor’s Office notified the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) to carry out investigations on the possible committing of the offense of conflict of interest by George Falca.
