Archbishop Teodosie remains under judicial control

The Constanţa Court of Appeal has rejected on Monday the request of the anticorruption prosecutors (DNA) to set the home arrest measure against Archbishop Teodosie.

DNA prosecutors accuse Teodosie of violating the judicial control because he was involved in accessing European funds. This had been explicitly forbidden for him by the court, tvr.ro informs.

Teodosie is prosecuted for fraud in the process of obtaining European money. According to the prosecutors, the prelate made false statements in which he claimed to use certain areas of land for agriculture.

Anti-corruption prosecutors asked last week for Tomis Archbishop Teodosie to be placed under house arrest in the file where he is accused of using false statements to obtain agricultural subsidies from APIA.

The magistrates argue that the archbishop “has started actions to access European funds, although he was expressly banned to do that by the restrictions within judicial control”.

Archbishop Teodosie stated that he is not guilty of these charges and that he trusts the trial will end with his discharge.
