Blooming mountain peonies in the Rodna Mountains go viral

The mountain peony bloomed in the Rodna Mountains, and spectacular images were made public by Romsilva. The National Directorate of Forests draws the attention of tourists that the plant is protected and cannot be transplanted.

“The mountain peony is beginning to delight us with its beauty. Yesterday’s photos taken by representatives of the Borșa Mountain Gendarmerie at the foot of Pietrosu Roda Mountain, the Iezer lake area in Romsilva – Rodna Mountains National Park,” Romsilva announced on Facebook.

The rhododendron is a protected plant. Being a plant that grows in very specific climatic and relief conditions, it cannot be transplanted, so it cannot be broken to be planted in gardens.

Romsilva asks tourists who arrive in the area not to pick the flowers and to respect nature: “We want them to enjoy the unique landscape, take photos and stop to admire the area and reconnect with nature.”

Rodna Mountains National Park, one of the 22 national and natural parks managed by the National Forestry Authority – Romsilva, is the second national park in the country in terms of area, with over 47,000 hectares, being located in the northern part of the country, in the counties Maramureș and Bistrita-Năsăud.
