Braşov is the most attractive city in Romania for living, according to the Urban Attractiveness Index carried out by the Institute for Visionary Cities (IOV). On the next places are Cluj-Napoca and Oradea.
N said Florian Filat, Executive Director of the Institute for Visionary Cities and coordinator of both the Urban Attractiveness Index and the Urban Performance Index.
According to the study’s results, Brașov is considered the most attractive city in Romania for living, achieving top scores in both dimensions (attractiveness and urban performance), while Cluj-Napoca ranks second, followed by Oradea, Sibiu, and Timișoara. The top ten most attractive cities for living in Romania also include Constanța, Bucharest, Iași, Alba Iulia, and Piatra Neamț.
The analysis also evaluated 11 factors that influence a city’s attractiveness for relocation/living. Leisure opportunities proved to have the greatest relative importance in explaining attractiveness, surpassing even traditional factors such as well-paying jobs or basic infrastructure.
City Index is a tool that analyzes the urban evolution of the 41 county seat municipalities. The final attractiveness score of each city was calculated as the average of the relocation intention score and quality of life score. The index evaluates the attractiveness of cities at the intersection of two key dimensions: the intention to relocate and the perception of quality of life in cities. The methodology used combines official statistical data from various sources, such as the National Institute of Statistics and ministries, as well as qualitative evaluations from residents and tourists obtained from platforms like TripAdvisor and Google Places, during the period 2022-2023.”
