All the offenses of murder recorded in 2015 in the capital city were solved by identifying the perpetrators, according to the balance sheet of the Bucharest Police General Directorate (DGPMB) posted on Friday on the website of the institution.
Offences against the person were down by 9% against 2014, some 66.1% of which are strikes or other violence and threats, murder offences decreasing by 29% as compared to 2014.
According to the source, the number of reported offenses in 2015 was down by 4.1% against 2014, reaching 80,163 – below the average values in the last six years.
Regarding criminality, 71.4% were crimes sent to court, 10.8% – economic and financial crimes and 17.8% – others.
Policemen and prosecutors investigated 9,523 people in the files registered during 2015 and preventive measures were taken against 2,559 people.
Of the judicial offences, thefts represented 54.7%, criminal damage – 13.1%, beatings or other violence – 12.8% and 5.7% threats.
Crimes against property had the highest share in total crime reported in 2015 – 59.5%, of which 65.7% were thefts. They are on a downward trend, decreasing from 43,208 cases in 2010 to 31,330 cases in 2015.
The number of robberies also decreased from 1,983 cases in 2010 to 927 in 2015.
According to the source, a spectacular leap was recorded in the number of seized firearms in 2015 (562), by 130% more than in 2014.
Decreases were registered in auto theft (20%), robberies (13.4%), thefts from dwellings (10.6%), thefts from companies by burglaries (8.1%), offenses against property (5 9%) and street crime (4.4%), while thefts from pockets or bags increased (7%).
Bucharest policemen managed to dismantle 74 criminal groups that could have generated street conflicts, totalling 357 members, of which 137 have been detained or arrested.
Economic-financial offenses have increased by 13.6% as compared to 2014. In 2015 there were 2,008 cases of tax evasion, the total damage recovered being of around RON 271 million.
Regarding cigarette smuggling 486 offences and 326 people were investigated and nearly five million cigarettes worth about RON 2.85 million were seized.
Severe road accidents decreased in 2015, being by 15% below the annual average.
According to the DGPMB balance sheet, Bucharest remains one of the safest European capitals, ranking on the third place, after Copenhagen and Helsinki.
