Citizens from 80 countries can travel to Qatar without visa, the emirate’s authorities have announced on Wednesday, digi24.ro informs, quoting Reuters.
Among these countries are the UK, the US, Canada, India, South Africa, Seychelles, Australia, New Zeeland as well as Romania. The citizens of these countries can enter the country free of charge, only with passport valid for another six months and a plane ticket confirming return to their own countries or the continuation of the journey.
Depending on citizenship, the visitors can spend in Qatar either 90 days or 180 days with multiple entries, or 30 days with multiple entries, with the possibility to extend the stay by another 30 days.
Romania is included in the first category, along with other 32 countries.
Hassan Al Ibrahim, acting President of the Qatar Tourism Authority, stressed that Qatar is the most open country in the region by allowing citizens to enter the country without visas. We are pleased to invite visitors to discover our hospitality, cultural heritage and national treasures, he added.
In November 2016, Qatar introduced a free transit visa whereby passengers from any country in transit through the emirate for at least five hours can stay for up to 96 hours (five days), and in May 2017 the Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways have launched +Qatar, a package that also includes a free night in a 5 or 4-star hotel in Doha, along with a transit visa.
