Classes suspended on May 31, on Pope Francis’ visit to Bucharest

Classes in all schools and kindergartens in the capital will be suspended on Friday, May 31, on the occasion of Pope Francis’ visit to Bucharest, the decision being made on Friday, by the command unit sitting at the City Hall of Bucharest. The classes will be also be suspended for certain units on Thursday, May 30.

The proposal was made by the Bucharest Police. Mayor Gabriela Firea has agreed with the proposal.

“Bucharest Police will participate with 2,000 policemen during the Pope’s visit. They are ready for the mission,” Bucharest Police chief, Ciprian Miron, said on Friday.

Pope Francis will pay a historic visit to Romania during May 31-June 2.

The apostolic visit of Pope Francis to Romania takes place twenty years after the one paid by St. John Paul II, in 1999, under the generic “Let’s Go Together!”
