Code Orange for heat in western Romania, Code Red looming. Anti-heat containers in Bucharest

15 counties in western Romania are on Code Orange warning for heat, the National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has informed. The counties under the warning are Alba, Arad, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Cluj, Caraș-Severin, Dolj, Hunedoara, Mehedinți, Maramureș, Mureș, Sibiu, Sălaj, Satu Mare and Timiș. Temperatures will be close or will reach 40 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists warn the heat wave will intensify on Wednesday and Thursday

The rest of the country is under Code Yellow warning for heat, with high thermal discomfort and temperatures of 35-37C.

The heat wave will last all week, ANM informs.

Sources say that a Code Red for heat wave is imminent as of Thursday in the western part of the country.

Bucharest City Hall places downtown ten anti-heat and first-aid containers

The Bucharest City Hall has located 10 containers with anti-heat and first-aid facilities. The ten containers are placed as follows: Romana Square (near ASE), University Square (Coltea Hospital), Stefan cel Mare St. (crossing with Barbu Vacarescu St.), Iancului Square, Muncii Square, Crangasi Square, North Railway Station, Roma Square, June 11 St.

According to the municipality, each container costs RON 11,000. They include a medical couch, a table, two chairs, water, a first-aid kit, air conditioner and other facilities.

District 2 city hall has also announced, in view of Code Orange or Code Red warnings, the positioning of first-aid points at its offices, at ‘Glinka’ social assistance services and at Masina de Paine St., as well as at the offices of the six child and elderly protection institutions in the district.
