A 15-year-old teen, paralyzed in wheelchair, who had come to a rock concert for the first time in his life, has been saved by two of his best friends, also aged 15, in the fire from the Colectiv Club last Friday. When the fire burst out, the two pals rushed to take Mihai out, carried him in their arms and managed to save him. Unfortunately, they were badly injured, fighting for their lives in hospital now.
Pavlos and Laurentiu, two 15yo teens, are the hero children of the Colectiv tragedy. They were exactly near the stage, together with their best friend, Mihai, who has paraparesis, when the fire began.
A friend of Mihai tells he loved rock music but had never been to a rock concert. His friend, Pavlos sprang a surprise on him and invited him at the “Goodbye to Gravity” concert.
“It was his first concert and he asked his mother a lot to let him go,” Andrei Carpus, Mihai’s friend told Digi 24.
When the fire burst out, Pavlos and Laurentiu took Mihai in their arms and saved him, but they were severely affected by the flames.
Mihai has burns on 35 percent of the body, undergoing a skin grafting surgery.
Laurentiu was transported to St.Ioan Hospital and later on transferred to Grigore Alexandru hospital for children.
“He is in a serious condition, he is intubated. He doesn’t have too many burns on the skin, but he has internal burns, which are more serious,” his attending doctor explained.
Pavlos is also in serious condition. He is unconscious with burns on 60 percent of his body. “He is intubated and mechanically ventilated, with serious pipes burns. He has 15,” said the doctors from Grigore Alexandrescu hospital that took him over from Elias hospital.
“They have always helped people, helped one another. Laur helped Pavlos to get out, Pavlos helped Laur and both helped Mishu. They are heroes,” their friend Andrei Carpus said.
