Criminal complaint filed against Bucharest mayor on the procurement contracts at Gomoiu Hospital

Ana Ciceală, USR general Councillor in the Bucharest General Council, has filed a criminal complaint at the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) against Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea in the case of some controversial acquisition at Gomoiu Hospital for children.

The general mayor is accused of abuse of office, namely that she has not notified DNA although she knew about the irregularities in the hospital and the overestimated procurement contracts.

“More precisely, although she had been informed and had hints that illegal operations had been undertaken, the City Hall leadership has skipped to notify the criminal prosecution bodies at once, as the law requires. If she had not had something to hide, Gabriela Firea should have revealed the situation of the Gomoiu Hospital to the public opinion. The fact she hasn’t done it is a clue that the entire situation should be investigated by prosecutors”, Ana Ciceală argued.

Last Friday, Bucharest City Hall said in a press release that the works paid by the municipality for the Gomoiu Hospital had not been overrated, and all payments had been legal. The City Hall mentioned that the tender to build the new unit of the above-mentioned hospital had started in 2010, when other general mayor was in office.
