CSM sets programme for hearing Prosecutor General, Augustin Lazar: Interview on November 13, final opinion on November 21

The assessment report on Augustin Lazar’s activity has reached the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) on Thursday, and the Prosecutors’ Section has set the hearing on November 14, with the reasoning to be issued on November 21, judicial sources said for ziare.com.

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader announced on Wednesday that he launched the revocation procedure of General Prosecutor Augustin Lazar.

The revocation procedure is established by the Bill on the Status of Magistrates. The revocation may be made by the President of Romania, upon the proposal of the Minister of Justice, with the advisory opinion of the CSM Prosecutors’ Section.

In a similar case, President Klaus Iohannis decided to reject the revocation request of the DNA chief prosecutor, Laura Codruta Kovesi, following the CSM Prosecutors’ Section negative opinion. Still, Tudorel Toader appealed to the Constitutional Court, which forced the President to revoke the DNA chief prosecutor.
