Day of national mourning for the Romanians who died in the Italy earthquake

The Government declared September 2 as day of national mourning in the memory of the Romanian nationals who lost their lives in the earthquake in central Italy. All state central and local institutions must half mast.

Therefore, Romanian flag will be half mast at the HQs of political parties, trade unions, schools and universities, culture institutions and diplomatic missions, at the Romanian border checkpoints, in airports, railway stations, on ships.

Romanian physical persons who carry the red flag at their residence have the same obligation.

On September 2, the national radio and TV stations, as well as the cultural institutions will adjust their programmes accordingly.

11 Romanians died in the earthquake in central Italy, another four were injured. Initially there were more then ten conational missing but they were identified alive later on.

About 50 Romanian families affected by the earthquake in Italy can benefit of the emergency aid granted by the Government in Bucharest.
