The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has detained a 15-year-old boy for promoting the extremist ideology and for getting in contact with the supporters of the terrorist organisations in order to convince and attract new followers.
DIICOT prosecutor say that the teen boy had developed some plans to attack civilians and some hot spots.
„Defendant M.T.E, aged 15 had been detained for 24 hours for deeds stipulated by the Law 535/2004 on preventing and countering terrorism (…) There is the reasonable suspicion that, starting September 2017 up to the present day, the defendant has been actively involved in getting in contact with some active terrorist organisations from the Middle East, Romanian and foreign citizens, in the view of systematically promoting the ideas and doctrines typical to the above-mentioned terrorist groups, in the view of convincing and luring new followers. The defendant has accessed websites and forums that promote the extremist ideology, which hail the crimes committed by the terrorist organisations and which support the establishment of a state governed by extremist principles. He also disseminated violent footage to support his cause,” reads a DIICOT press release.\
Anti-organized crime prosecutors also pointed out that the teen boy had intended to join the war next to the terrorist organisations, voicing intention to travel to the conflict zones.
