DIICOT starts criminal prosecution in rem of complaint against PM Dăncilă

The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has started the investigation in rem in the case of the criminal complaint against Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, Digi 24 TV private broadcaster informs. The prosecutors’ action takes place following the criminal complaint filed by Liberal leader Ludovic Orban against Dăncilă.

On May 17, PNL Chairman Ludovic Orban filed a complaint to the Prosecutor General’s Office against Viorica Dăncilă and Liviu Dragnea for committing several offenses.

The criminal complaint is aimed at Premier Viorica Dăncilă for four offences: the usurpation of public office, the presentation in bad faith of information to the President of Romania, high treason and the disclosure of secret state information.

As far as the PSD leader is concerned, the complaint concerns only the offense of disclosure of secret information.

The Prosecutor General’s Office upon the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) has ordered that the complaint filed by the PNL chairman is to be investigated by DIICOT.

PNL leader Ludovic Orban filed a criminal complaint against PM Viorica Dancila to the Prosecutor General’s Office on May 17. The complaint concerns the Gov’t memorandum on the relocation of the Romanian embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The Liberal leader accuses PM Dancila of high treason, of presenting information in bad faith to the Romanian President, of usurpation and disclosing state secret information.

Orban asked the prosecutors to probe into all details related to the adoption of the memorandum on the embassy to Jerusalem. According to the complaint, the memorandum adopted by the Government has brought serious prejudice to the country.
