DNA: 73 defendants convicted in corruption files last month

The National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) has announced on Thursday that 73 defendants investigated in the corruption files have been convicted in June, through 28 final court rulings.

Among those defendants, there are two former ministers (ex-Energy minister Constantin Nita and ex-Tourism minister Elena Udrea), a former senator (Dan Sova), a county prefect, a former presidential adviser (Catalin Voicu), a secretary of state (within Justice ministry), a secretary general within Tourism ministry, a minister’s personal adviser, a director of national company, a a director of the CFR subsidiary, a general manager of Electrica, a city mayor, two commune’s mayors, a former ANAF head and a chief of the County Gendarme Inspectorate.

The sentences ordered by judges against these defendants range from 8 years to one year and ten months in prison.
