Dozens of households in five counties flooded

Dozens of households in the counties of Gorj, Dambovita, Calarasi, Bihor and Giurgiu have been flooded, whereas about 100 fire-fighters intervening in support of the population, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) informs.

In the past 24 hours more than 100 fire-fighters with 40 equipments have intervened in the areas where foods took place. The five counties were affected by heavy rainfall.

Thus, in Gorj County were affected 9 localities, namely Bengeşti, Ciocadia, Bălceşti, Birci, Novaci, Sărţişti, Berceşti, Pociovaliştea and Hiriseşti, where 59 households, 11 footpaths and 12 km of communal road have been flooded.

“In the village of Teis in Dâmboviţa County, the military fire-fighters intervened to save a person surrounded by water in an agricultural farm. Also in the villages of Croitori, Răzvad and Valea Voievozilor a house and nine courtyards have been flooded. The locality of Roşeţi, Calarasi County, a house and a yard were flooded; adverse weather effects were also recorded in Bihor, in Şuşturogi, where the rescuers evacuated the water from 6 flooded courtyards; also in Giurgiu County, at Adunaţii Copăceni, the rescuers have intervened for the discharge of water from an intersection – roundabout, and in the locality of Joita to a household annex,” according to a press release issued by the IGSU.

Road traffic has not been affected.

More than 5,000 fire-fighters are at the sites, and the IGSU operating centres and subordinate units are constantly monitoring the weather situation and the evolution of rivers’ water flows.
