Two of the deputy editors-in-chief of the newspaper ‘Romania Libera’, Laurentiu Mihu and Gabriel Bejan, no longer work for this publication as of Thursday, the separation was made official by the parties, according to information provided by HotNews.ro. Editor-in-chief Dan Cristian Turturica has resigned, but is under the period of notice.
The editorial board of the newspaper would be taken over by Razvan Chiruta, from the Department of Journalism, given that the position of editor in chief had been proposed to several people from the editorial staff, but they refused.
The departure of the three comes after several months of conflicts within the newspaper, between the editorial staff on the one hand, and the leadership of Adrian Rus and owner Dan Adamescu on the other hand. Tensions were generated by delay in wage payment and disagreements over the management.
Two weeks ago information emerged that Rares Bogdan (Realitatea TV) was supposed to come to ‘Romania Libera’ in a management position, but it did not happen. Rares Bogdan has conditioned his move by the solving of the problems regarding wage payment delays.
Earlier this week, manager Adrian Rus has promised once again that the problem with wage payment delays will be solved, however gradually until next spring. On December 4 the money is to be paid for September.
