Romanian Olympic students obtained a gold medal, three silver medals, a bronze medal and two honorable mentions at the International Linguistic Olympiad – IOL 2024 in Brazil. Seven students are from state high schools, and one from a private high school.
The Romanian students participating in the International Linguistic Olympiad (IOL) were accompanied by Roxana Preda, assistant professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest (FL-UB), Mihai Bratu – triple medalist at the IOL, student at the Technical University of Delft and Paul Helmer – former IOL participant, associate professor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN).
In addition to these coordinators, they were also involved, according to the organizing representatives of the Linguistics Olympiad in Romania: Dan Mirea – IOL medalist, member of the International Jury, PhD student at Princeton University, Dr. Vlad A. Neacșu – IOL awardee, team-leader of the Hong-Kong delegation and starting this year, member of the IOL Board and Tamara Ivanof – IOL awardee, volunteer at this year’s edition of IOL.
Vlad Neacșu also got a mention with the team from Hong Kong, two bronze medals and a silver medal.
