Italian Matteo Cassani, general manager of Enel Energie and Enel Energie Muntenia died on Thursday after he jumped off the Enel building in Bucharest. He was 42 years old and has been established in Romania for over ten years.
Enel informed on this tragedy, saying the company doesn’t know the circumstances of the incident. “An investigation is ongoing in this case. Matteo Cassani was an excellent professional who has been working for ten years in Romania, having various management positions inside the company. He was a man respected by all his colleagues and appreciated by the clients and by the entire business community.
Our priority at this moment is to be next to his family and his close co-workers. We hope the media will respect the intimacy of the involved person and it won’t speculate on this unfortunate incident”, reads a company’s press release.
Cassani was the first person sent by the Italians of Enel to Romania and he played an essential part in Enel negotiations with the Romanian state. As a result of the negotiations, Enel made first transaction in our country in 2005, taking over former Electrica Banat and Electrica Dobrogea state companies, according to Ziarul Financiar business paper.
Matteo Cassani, specialized in industrial engineering, was appointed as manager for business development when he first got in Romania in 2004. According to preliminary information quoted by Mediafax, he was married to a Romanian woman.
