Ex-Constanta mayor Radu Mazare’s wedding in prison settled

Former Constanta mayor Radu Mazare’s fiance, Roxana Mihalache, has filed documents for their wedding at the District 5 City Hall on Friday. The civil ceremony of the marriage has been set for July 10.

Mazare has proposed to his girlfriend and will get married while in jail.

The fiance said there is no special preparation for wedding, as it will be a simple ceremony.

“I have already file the documents, we are waiting for the wedding. It was set on July 10. It will be a simple ceremony, we have no menu, nothing, these are the conditions. The family will attend,” Roxana Mihalache has announced.

According to the rules in penitentiaries, no more than 10 people are allowed to attend a wedding in jail and alcoholic drinks are also banned.

The fiance revealed that Radu Mazare is in a good condition behind bars, that he has activities within the prison and that he is working on a daily basis, more precisely he is making bedsheet and pillow cases.

Mihalache said that she would visit her fiance at the Rahova Penitentiary on Saturday, where he is imprisoned.

Initially, Radu Mazare wanted to get married on his birthday, July 5, when he is turning 51, but his request has been denied.

Former mayor of Constanta, Radu Mazăre, facing a final ruling of nine years in prison for corruption deeds, has been brought back in Romania from Madagascar, where he had fled, under Police escort, in May.
