The former Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zalujný, said on Wednesday that Romania asked him not to talk about the downing of Russian drones on its territory.
“They understand that there is no fifth article (of the NATO Treaty) and there never was. Poland understands this, where our missiles periodically fall, then Russian ones. Romania, in general, understands everything, but is silent. And sometimes they call me and say: “shut up”. Well, two “Shaheds” fell in the port, why are you silent? And then they call me and say: “Why did you start electronic warfare, they [Russian drones] flew towards us”. “Then shoot them down. You have forty F-16s waiting,” I say,” he said during a conversation with students in Lviv, according to the news portal Liga.net.
Several Russian drones have crashed on Russian territory. The last such incident occurred on the night of March 1, when Russia attacked Ukraine with 154 drones of various types. On February 3, police officers discovered two Russian attack drones in southern Moldova, near the border with Ukraine. On February 27, the Romanian Senate approved a bill that allows the shooting down of unauthorized drones that violate Romanian airspace.
