Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc appealed to all prosecutors who think they have experience, maturity and integrity to run for the chief prosecutor position within the Directorate for Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation (DIICOT).
“It is an open, transparent selection procedure, giving a chance for every prosecutor. Registration is closing on March 16 (…) All law abiding prosecutors are invited to join the race. There is no one previously settled. This is my appeal, everybody who think he/she has the experience, the maturity and the integrity to run such an institution should go in,” Cazanciuc said on Friday during the 2014 balance sheet meeting of DIICOT.
The Justice Ministry launched the selection procedure of the future DIICOT chief prosecutor early this week. The selected candidates will be interviewed by the Justice minister starting March 17.
DIICOT chief prosecutor position is vacant since former chief Alina Bica was arrested in the corruption file regarding an illegal retrocession of an overrated ground with more than EUR 60 m.
