Explosion at Goranu Military Range: Officer, 4 Cadets Injured

Four students and an instructor from the Râmnicu Vâlcea Combat Support Training Center were injured in an explosion on Thursday, December 12, at the Goranu training range, Vâlcea county. The incident took place “during a session on making pyrotechnic ignition devices with real explosives,” the Ministry of National Defense announced.

The explosion took place in the Goranu firing range, caused by the detonation of an electric staple. According to initial information, an officer from the Ministry of Defense and four students suffered injuries to their face and upper limbs.

“The injured were evacuated to the Vâlcea County Emergency Hospital for specialized care, and their condition is stable,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the explosion.

“The incident is being investigated by a commission of specialists appointed by the commander of the Center and the Military Prosecutor’s Office,” the Ministry of Defense said.
