Five Romanian cities are in the top of the safest places in Europe to live, travel or move for work.
The Hague, in the Netherlands, is the safest city in Europe. Bern, the capital of Switzerland, and Munich, in Germany, follow in the safety ranking. In the top 10 we also find Ljubljana from Slovenia, Zagreb from Croatia, Eindhoven, another city from the Netherlands, and Cluj-Napoca. It is the first city in Romania to make the top 10. Timișoara ranked 17th below, followed by Brașov.
Bucharest is not a dangerous city either. It is on the 31st place in the list of the safest cities in Europe to live or travel. The capital of Romania has surpassed other important European capitals, such as Lisbon, Oslo, Vienna, Luxembourg or London, in terms of safety. Iasi is the last Romanian city present in this ranking, on the 50th place.
One of the most important indicators of a city’s safety is the crime rate. Road accidents are another factor that has been taken into account to determine the degree of safety. Cities that invest in road infrastructure, implement strict traffic rules and promote public transport can be considered safer. For the achievement of this ranking, public safety or that in public spaces also mattered.
