Foreign Ministry: 16 are Romanians taken in custody in Budapest for human trafficking

The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) has announced on Friday that the Romanian Embassy in Budapest has been informed that 16 Romanian citizens are in custody in Budapest and are being investigated for human trafficking.
“The Romanian Embassy in Budapest has been informed today, August 28, 2015 by the Hungarian police, that the four Romanian citizens were detained on August 26, 2015 in Budapest, being investigated for human trafficking. According to information from the Hungarian police, the four Romanian citizens were to be heard later n Friday, August 28, 2015,” a press release sent by MAE to Mediafax informs.
MAE also specifies that the Romanian Embassy in Budapest is monitoring the file and is in contact with the Hungarian authorities to obtain new elements on the legal situation of the Romanian citizens, also is ready to provide consular assistance within the legal competence but, so far, no Romanian citizen has requested consular assistance.
Initially, the Hungarian authorities announced they had detained and questioned on Thursday 12 Romanian citizens suspected of human trafficking, facing the proposal of preventive arrest.
