A French citizen, who was also an employee of the French Embassy in Bucharest, was discovered deceased in the lower part of the Jepii Mici trail in the Bucegi Mountains. The head of Salvamont Bușteni, Laurențiu Paraschiv, stated that the lifeless body of the tourist will be recovered by land.
According to information provided by Salvamont Romania, the missing tourist in the Bucegi Mountains was an employee of the French Embassy in Romania and had a good physical condition and experience in mountain hiking in our country.
Search and rescue efforts were coordinated by Salvamont teams from Bușteni, Prahova, Râșnov, Brașov, as well as mountain gendarmes from Sinaia.
The 58-year-old French tourist left Bucharest on Saturday morning with the intention of hiking one of the two possible routes in the Bucegi Mountains: one passing through Cabana Gura Diham, Cabana Mălăiești, Vârful Omu, and returning via Babele to Sinaia, and the other passing through Jepii Mici, Cabana Caraiman, Cabana Piatra Arsă, and returning to Sinaia Railway Station.
