French frigate ‘Jean Bart’, stopover in Constanta Port, Black Sea military drills

The French frigate ‘Jean Bart’ will make a stopover in Constanta Port during March 7-10, 2018, before taking part in a military drill in Romania’s Black Sea territorial waters, alongside the Romanian Naval Forces, the Embassy of France in Bucharest has announced in a press release, quoted by

The ‘Jean Bart’ Frigate is part of the F 70 AA class and is specialized in anti-aircraft combat operations in aero-maritime and crisis management operations, being able to deploy missions in any area, within an allied or international naval group. The ship is equipped with a Panther helicopter.

“This stopover and the exercise take place following the ones conducted by the French frigates ‘Chevalier Paul’ in July 2017 and ‘Guepratte’ in December 2017. The French Military Navy is very much involved in the cooperation with the Romanian Military Navy in the Black Sea and is proud to be one of the European navies most present in this area,” said Michele Ramis, France’s Ambassador to Romania, quoted by the release.

After this stopover, the frigate ‘Jean Bart’ will participate in a joint exercise with the Romanian naval and air forces.
