German woman tourist, rescued in Ceahlau Massif

A woman tourist from Germany suffered a fracture while in Ceahlau Massif and was rescued after a difficult intervention that lasted 5 hours.

The intervention in the Ceahlau National Park (north-eastern Romania) started on Friday at 16.30h and the tourist was brought at the base of the mountain at 20.00h.

“Due to favourable weather conditions, a drone was used to send the coordinates of the victim. The first intervention team reached the area where the accident occurred at 16.30h and immobilized the fractured limb. At 17.00h the second team arrived and the victim was transported to the base of the mountain,” the mountain rescuers say.

The victim was taken over by the Neamt ambulance to the nearest hospital.

The accident occurred in the area of Polita Scauis in Ceahlau Massif. Technical reasons prevented the rescuers to use a helicopter in order to take over the German tourist
