The trade unionists with the health system announced Tuesday evening that they give up the general strike scheduled on May 11, following the agreement reached with the Government. Labour Minister, Lia Olguta Vasilescu, announced the wage bill will be amended, except the capping of cash bonuses to 30%, and that all those who registered decreased wages will get the money back, hotnews.ro reports.
The decision was reached after 11 hours of negotiations between Government representatives and the health trade unionists.
“We made calculations after calculations. (…) We have concluded an agreement in 7 points. We have agreed to give up the general strike on May 11. We are satisfied with the discussions today,” Sanitas leader, Leonard Barascu, said.
Health Minister, Sorina Pintea, said “the wage law was subjectively enforced by the hospitals” and that the new health bill will include efficiency indices.
“I give you an example: two hospitals said they registered decreased wages as compared to December 2017. The Arad County Hospital: out of 1,959 employees, 1,820 cashed lower revenues. In Focsani: out of 1,366 employees, 1,307 cashed lower revenues,” Sorina Pintea said.
Labour Minister, Lia Olguta Vasilescu said that “the amendments will only aim the cash bonuses. (…) One of the important decisions is to take out of the 30% capping the emergency shifts for physicians and nurses. There will be no more reasons for the decrease of bonuses. The Government decided that for the specialized hospitals and for Bucharest and county ambulance, under special conditions, the bonuses could be supplemented. (…) Several demands have been solved, such as to equate the level of nurse with the one of midwife,” Olguta Vasilescu said.
