Romania reports 11,073 new COVID-19 cases and a record of 591 deaths due to the SARS-CoV-2 infection in the past 24 hours, according to the existing data released by the health authorities. Among the 591 deaths, five occurred in the previous weeks but were reported today.
The daily 591 deaths set a record in Romania. The previous all-time high on the daily fatality rate had been on October 19, 2021: 574 deaths.
1,666,097 Romanians have been infected with coronavirus since the debut of the pandemic till today, November 2, 2021, with 8,636 of them being reinfected patients more than 6 months after the first infection. 1,429,157 patients were declared cured.
The death toll climbed to 48,664, with 591 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 279 men and 312 women from Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Ialomița, Iași, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest. Five deaths occurred in the previous weeks.
Among the recently reported dead patients, one was in the 10-19 age group, one in the 20-29 age group, six in the 30-39 age group, 19 in the 40-49 age group, 60 in the 50-59 age group, 152 in the 60-69 age category, 187 in patients in their 70s and 155 in people older than 80.
555 of the recent victims had comorbities, 14 presented no other diseases and no other pre-existing conditions were reported in the case of 22 victims.
One dead patient had got infected abroad and had been reported by Bucharest Public Health Directorate.
There are 5 deaths which occurred in Galati, Ialomita, Prahova and Sibiu in October.
Among the total 591 recent victims, 541 were not vaccinated and 50 were vaccinated. Those 50 vaccinated victims were aged 40 to 80 and they all had underlying medical conditions.
Two youngsters are among the victims made by the Covid-19 infection: a 17yo young boy from Constanta, who had comorbidities and was not vaccinated and a 28yo young woman from Botosani, also not vaccinated and who had pre-existing medical conditions.
19,987 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are currently hospitalized, with 1,876 in intensive care. Among all hospitalized Covid patients in Romania, 367 are children, with 32 of them in intensive care.
Infection rate
The infection trend rate stands at 15.3%. 1,876 Romanians infected with the novel coronavirus are in a more critical condition, in intensive care.
On the other hand, the incidence of COVID-19 infections have declined in Bucharest, down to 13.35 as against 13.87 a day ago. It is the 12th day in a row of decline in the Covid infection rate in the Capital city. A month ago, the infection rate in Bucharest stood at 8.28 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Six Romanian Covid patients in critical condition transferred in Germany
Six other patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, who are in serious condition, are being transferred to Germany on Tuesday, the Ministry of National Defense announces.
A C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, configured for medical missions, is carrying out a humanitarian transport mission, on the route Bucharest – Hamburg (Germany), with six patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus on board. They are in critical condition.
The medical team that are monitoring the patients during the flight consists of specialists from SMURD Bucharest, and the transport of patients from the hospital units to the airport was performed by ambulances of SMURD and the Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service.
11 European countries helped Romania so far in the pandemic 4th wave
11 European countries have so far offered help to Romania to face the fourth wave of the pandemic, which brought the medical system to the brink of collapse. The countries, most EU member states, but not only (Republic of Moldova, Serbia), provided medical teams, equipment and medicines and took over patients in serious condition, who no longer took place in Romanian hospitals, according to a statement from the Representation of the European Commission in Bucharest.
Medical teams from Denmark, Poland, Germany and the Republic of Moldova were sent to Romania to help our doctors treat the growing number of patients with COVID-19. Also, Romanian patients with COVID-19 were transported to Hungary, Poland and Austria for treatment.
