Covid-19 infections, deaths on decline

1,149 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Romania in the last 24 hours, as well as 66 deaths due to the SARS-CoV-2 infection, with 8 occurring in the previous period. 1,076 Covid patients were in intensive care.

“According to the data available  on December 2, 2021, at 10.00, within 24 hours, 1,149 cases of positive people with SARS-CoV-2 were registered. Also, 66 deaths were reported, of which 8 were previous”, announced the Strategic Communication Group.

Overall, there have been 1,781,957 cases of Covid infections in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic till December 2, 2021, with 10,366 being reinfected patients 6 months after their first infection. 1,691,356 patients were declared cured.

The death toll climbed to 56,684, with 66 new more deaths reported in the past 24 hours: 33 men and 33 women from lba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Gorj, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu and Timiș.

Eight of these recently reported victims died previously: 6 in October and 2 in November.

One of the recent victims is a patient infected in France and reported by the Timis public health authorities.

Out of those 66 recently reported deaths, one was in the 0-9 age group, one in the 40-49 age group, five in the 50-59 age group, 19 in people aged 60 to 69, 17 in patients in their 70s and 23 among elderly over 80.

The victim in the 0-9 yo group is a 1-one-year-old baby girl from Mures county, who had underlying medical conditions.

62 of the recent victims were patients with pre-existing medical condition, while four were registered with no other comorbidity.

Among those 66 dead patients, 56 were not vaccinated against COVID-19, 10 were vaccinated. Those 10 vaccination dead patients were aged from 60 to over 80, with nine of them presenting other diseases and one having no other comorbidity.

The number of Covid patients admitted into hospitals was also down to 6,934. 1,076 are in intensive care. Among the hospitalized Covid patients, 110 are children, with 8 of them in intensive care.

Infection rates

The Covid incidence in the last 14 days has declined below 3 er 1,000 in all counties on Thursday. The infection rate stood at 1.63 today as against 1.69 a day ago. Arad and Cluj reported the highest infection rates (2.95 and 2.46 respectively), while Suceava and Vaslui reported the lowest incidence rates (0.51 and 0.65).

The Covid infection rate was 1.71 in Bucharest today.
