Heatwave lingers in southern Romania, alert for torrential rains, strong wind in other 21 counties

The National Meteorology Administration has issued on Monday a Code Yellow alert for torrential rains and strong winds, valid in 21 counties from the central and western Romania until Monday night. On the other hand,  the heatwave is lingering in the south.

ANM says the yellow code warning for rainfalls is coming into force at 14:00hrs and is valid until 22:00hrs, in 21 counties: Satu Mare, Maramureş, Sălaj, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Cluj, Mureş, Harghita, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Braşov, Covasna, Gorj, Vâlcea, Argeş, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Bihor, Arad, Timiş and Caraş-Severin.

There will be torrential rains and wind gusts reaching 55-70kmph, even 80-90kmph in some areas, as well as rainstorms, thunderstorms and hail. Falls will exceed 20-25liters/sq m and even 50-60l/sq m.

On the other hand in the southern and southeastern regions there will be hot, with temperatures ranging from to 33C-36C.
